Round Rock Express News Release
ROUND ROCK, Texas -- Round Rock Express Founder and CEO Reid Ryan was announced as president of business operations for the Houston Astros in a press conference held at Minute Maid Park in Houston today. The Express announced club CFO Reese Ryan will be promoted to CEO effective immediately.
Reid Ryan is credited with the vision that resulted in the return of affiliated professional baseball to Central Texas in 2000. As a result of today's announcement, Ryan will maintain his ownership interest in the club and will continue his involvement on the Ryan-Sanders Baseball board of directors although without retaining day-to-day responsibilities of the Express.
"I'd like to thank the tremendous fans in Round Rock and the entire Central Texas region for their unbelievable support of the Express since its inception," said Ryan. "Without the fans and business community I would have never had this opportunity."
Reese Ryan will assume a more active daily role with the Express, working closely with team President Dave Fendrick and General Manager George King. "I'm excited for this opportunity for Reid and am honored to carry forward the success the Express has enjoyed as its CEO," said Ryan. "Round Rock has been part of our family for 14 years and it's a privilege to continue the tradition of providing quality family entertainment Reid started here."
The transition announced today will have no effect on the player development relationship between the Express and Texas Rangers. The working agreement between Triple-A Round Rock and its Major League parent club continues through the 2018 season.
With Nolan Ryan's role as CEO of the Rangers, today's move also creates an unprecedented father-son rivalry in Major League Baseball's American League West Division. "What it creates for me," jokes Reese Ryan, "is the opportunity to get some of the best seats in baseball, although Thanksgiving conversation might now become a little awkward."
The Express continues its 2013 chase for the PCL title with a week-long homestand featuring the Colorado Springs Sky Sox and the Reno Aces. A Saturday post-game concert featuring Bob Schneider highlights a busy promotional weekend which includes Budweiser Friday Fireworks and HEB Kids Day on Sunday. Good seats remain available at the Dell Diamond box office by calling (512) 255-2255 or visiting roundrockexpress.com.
