Oklahoma City Baseball Club News Release

Oklahoma City - The Round Rock Express scored eight runs over the third and fourth innings on the way to a 9-6 win against the Oklahoma City Dodgers Thursday night at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu continued his rehab assignment with a second stint and start with Oklahoma City. He was charged with the loss, allowing eight runs (five earned) and 10 hits, including two home runs, over 4.0 innings.

Ryu did not issue a walk and recorded four strikeouts. He threw 77 pitches, including 57 strikes.

The win by Round Rock was just the second for the Express in 11 meetings against the Dodgers this season and cut Oklahoma City's lead in the current series to 2-1.

The Express (39-34) scored one run in each of the first two games of the series before racking up nine runs Thursday in front of a crowd of 5,298.

Oklahoma City (39-33) took the first lead of the game and collected a season-high 15 hits in the loss.

Back-to-back doubles by Rob Segedin and Corey Brown brought home the first run of the night in the second inning. Chris Taylor then followed with a double before a sacrifice fly by Daniel Fields pushed the Dodgers ahead, 2-0.

Taylor went on to finish the night 4-for-4 with a RBI and run scored in his second game with Oklahoma City.

A two-run homer by Round Rock's Delino Deshields down the left-field line and onto the Budwesier Deck tied the game, 2-2, in the second inning.

Joey Gallo lined the first pitch he saw out to straight center field for a solo homer and a 3-2 Round Rock lead in the fourth inning. Jared Hoying followed with a double before a RBI triple by Kyle Kubitza put the Express in front, 4-2. A wild pitch from Ryu, still with none out, put the Express ahead, 5-2.

A RBI single by Patrick Cantwell and two-run double by Brett Nicholas pushed Round Rock in front, 8-2.

The Dodgers cut into the Express lead in the bottom of the inning.

Corey Brown homered in a second straight game and cut the Express lead to 8-3. RBI singles by Daniel Fields and Alex Hassan then cut the lead to 8-5 later in the inning.

A sacrifice fly from DeShields put Round Rock in front, 9-5, in the top of the eighth inning.

In the bottom of the frame the Dodgers loaded the bases with none out for Taylor, who hit a RBI single and cut Round Rock's lead to 9-6.

With the bases loaded again, Zach Walters popped into a double play. The infield fly rule was called on the pop-up toward shortstop Hanser Alberto that dropped between Alberto and left fielder Kubitza. Segedin was then out at home on the throw from Kubitza to third baseman Pedro Ciriaco and to catcher Cantwell.

Pinch hitter O'Koyea Dickson drew a walk to load the bases again in the inning for the Dodgers, this time for Alex Hassan, who grounded into a fielder's choice that forced out Dickson at second base.

Round Rock starting pitcher Kyle Lohse (3-4) got the win, allowing five runs and nine hits over 5.0 innings. He did not issue a walk and struck out five. Andrew Faulkner pitched the final two innings for his second save of the season.

The Dodgers wrap up their series against the Round Rock Express at 7:05 p.m. Friday at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. Fireworks, presented by Oklahoma Blood Institute, are scheduled to follow the game.
