Round Rock Batters Chihuahuas in Third
May 22, 2016 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
El Paso Chihuahuas News Release
The Round Rock Express sent 16 batters to the plate in a team-record 11-run third inning in their 16-7 win over the El Paso Chihuahuas Sunday afternoon at Southwest University Park. It also set a Chihuahuas' team record for most runs allowed in one inning. Round Rock won three of the four games, becoming the first team since April 11-14 (Tacoma) to pick up a series win over El Paso.
The Chihuahuas' offense continues to flourish, as El Paso had 12 hits in Sunday's loss, continuing a streak of 20 straight games with nine hits or more. Alex Dickerson went 2-for-5 to extend his hitting streak to 20 games, the longest by a Pacific Coast League player this season.
The Chihuahuas and Express combined for 71 runs and 102 hits in the last three games. Daniel McCutchen left after 2.1 innings Sunday, his shortest start in two years with El Paso. Jabari Blash went 2-for-4 with two home runs and now has 10 home runs and 23 RBIs in 14 career games at Southwest University Park, counting the Chihuahuas vs. Padres exhibition game on March 31.
James Loney pitched a scoreless ninth inning, his first professional appearance on the mound. The Chihuahuas ended their eight-game homestand with five wins and three losses.
