RoughRiders Announce Captains for 2017-2018 season

CEDAR RAPIDS- The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders would like to announce they have named forwards Marc McLaughlin and Dalton Messina as Co-Captains and forward Liam Walsh as an Alternate Captain for the 2017-2018 season.

McLaughlin, from N. Billerica, MA is in his 2nd season with the RoughRiders. He is committed to play collegiately at Boston College. McLaughlin has played in 64 games with the organization thus far, scoring six goals to go along with 14 assists during that time.

Messina, from Macomb, MI is also in his 2nd season with the RoughRiders. Messina was acquired prior to the beginning of the 2016-2017 regular season from Fargo and has skated in 65 contests with the RoughRiders, scoring 14 goals and notching seven assists.

"Dalton and Marc will be great partners as captains for the 2017-2018 RoughRiders," said RoughRiders Head Coach and General Manager Mark Carlson. "They have both done a nice job so far setting an example on and off the ice. They have worked extremely hard and truly care about the organization, our players and the Cedar Rapids community."

Walsh, from Bridgeville, PA is in his 3rd season with the RoughRiders. An injury during his rookie season in 2015-2016 limited him to 13 games. He has appeared in 72 games as a RoughRider thus far, scoring seven goals and five assists.

"Liam has made great strides over the last two seasons and has done everything in his power to follow the game plan and to put the team 1st every day, on and off the ice," added Carlson.
