Roughnecks Receive Commitment From Former Longhorn DB Edorian McCullough

MIDLAND, TX. : The West Texas Roughnecks announced on Thursday, January 21, that former University of Texas defensive back Edorian McCullough has committed to the Roughnecks for the 2010 season. McCullough (5'11", 190 lbs.) was signed to the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted rookie free agent in April of 2006 following his collegiate football career. McCullough was released by the jaguars following the 2006 preseason; however McCullough was selected in the second round of the 2007 NFL-Europe Free Agent Draft by the Frankfurt Galaxy. McCullough saw significant playing time with the Galaxy, helping the club finish 7-3 overall in the regular season including an appearance in World Bowl XV versus Hamburg.

"We were very impressed with Edorian's college background and he has NFL-caliber talent. He has strong athletic abilities and he will provide leadership on the field for our younger players this season." stated West Texas Roughnecks Head Coach Chris Williams.

The Garland, Texas native began his collegiate career at the University of Texas in 2002. As a true freshman, McCullough saw playing time in all 13 games during the season posting 19 total tackles with one interception and five pass break-ups. McCullough additionally registered seven tackles on special teams including a forced fumble in the '02 season. McCullough recorded a career-high six tackles and three pass break-ups against Texas Tech and recorded his first career interception against Tulane. McCullough saw playing time in UT's 35-20 win over LSU in the 2003 Cotton Bowl. At the conclusion of the season, McCullough shared UT's Outstanding Defensive Newcomer Award.

McCullough transferred to the City College of San Francisco where he started at defensive back during the '03 and '04 seasons. Listed as a four-star JUCO prospect following the '04 season, McCullough transferred to Oregon State University where he saw significant playing time throughout the 2005 season.

McCullough was a two-sport athlete at North Garland High School where he was named an All-State selection in both football and track & field. As a senior, McCullough rushed for 1,756 yards and 16 touchdowns on route to being named the District Offensive Player of the Year and a First Team All-Area selection.
