Roughnecks Look to End Streak in Vancouver Wednesday
May 3, 2016 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
FC Tulsa News Release
Tulsa Roughnecks F.C. (TRFC) will get their first two-match week of the season when they travel to the Pacific Northwest for a pair of games. The opener will be on Wednesday, May 4 in Vancouver against the Whitecaps 2.
Tulsa will look to snap a five-match winless streak against the in-form Whitecaps who are currently one of only two teams in USL without a defeat.
The second match of the trip is scheduled for Sunday, May 8 at Seattle Sounders 2.
TULSA IN 2016
The Roughnecks will look to reverse their early season form. After posting a victory in their first game of the season, TRFC has gained only one point in its past five matches.
THE OPPONENT
Vancouver has started the season in the opposite direction, winning three times and drawing twice in its first five games of the year. The Whitecaps are in second place in the Western Conference table with 11 points, two points behind first-place Los Angeles Galaxy 2 but with two matches in hand.
RECENT FORM (Last 5 Matches) Tulsa L - L - D - L - L (March 26-April 23)
WFC2 W- D - D - W - W (March 26-April 27)
NEW SIGNING
The Roughnecks, who have been without the services of Cristian Mata for most of the season due to injury, have signed forward Kyle MacLeod. MacLeod has been training with clubs in Ireland after playing collegiately with the University of San Francisco and San Diego University. In his senior season with San Diego, he scored four goals, including three match winners, and was named to All-West Coast Conference honorable mention. MacLeod is expected to be available for the Roughnecks in Wednesday's match.
KALEEM OPENS TRFC ACCOUNT
Pakistan International Kaleem scored his first regular season goal with the Roughnecks in last weekend's 3-1 loss in San Antonio. Sammy Ochoa picked up his team-leading second assist of the year on the goal.
TULSA SOCCER HISTORY IN VANCOUVER
The original Roughnecks franchise won the Soccer Bowl in Vancouver's B.C. Place in 1983. With the 2-0 victory over the Toronto Blizzard, the Roughnecks won the North American Soccer League Championship.
