FC Tulsa News Release

Tulsa, OK - The Tulsa Roughnecks F.C. roster continued to shape up for the 2018 season as Head Coach David Vaudreuil announced the signing today of a pair of South American internationals. Veteran defender Claudio Munoz and midfielder Santiago Maidana have both been signed for the upcoming USL season, pending league and federation approval.

Munoz, a 33-year-old from Chile, will join the Roughnecks after spending his most of his career playing in the Primera Division in Chile. The 5'11" defender most recently played for San Marcos de Arica, a member of the Primera B Division after being transferred from Deportes Antofagasta of Chile's top league.

He previously played five seasons playing with Huachipato, making 145 appearances with them from 2012-16, including being a part of a Primera Division championship in 2012. Prior to that, Munoz spent time with five other clubs in Chile.

The defender also has two caps under his belt, appearing in a pair of friendlies for the Chilean National Team.

The 26-year-old Maidana is from Argentina and is expected to play as an attacking midfielder for Vaudreuil.

"Santiago is a very quick and a very technical attacking midfielder who always wants the ball at his feet where he can create chances for himself and his teammates," said Vaudreuil. "His work, passion, and technical ability should make him a very exciting prospect for the Roughnecks this year."

Maidana spent 11 years working his way through the famed River Plate system in Argentina and played there until the U-23 level as their #10. He has also spent time playing in Argentina with Deportivo Armenio and most recently with Malvinas Argentinas.

The midfielder also played with the Argentina National team at the U-20 level.
