Lexington Legends News Release

A bases loaded walk in the bottom of the ninth inning forced in the winning run as the Rome Braves defeated the Lexington Legends 3-2 Friday night in Rome.

With Tyler Neslony at first base after a leadoff walk in the ninth, Wigberto Nevarez put down a sacrifice bunt. A throwing error by catcher Chase Vallot left runners at first and second.

Lucas Herbert also reached first on a bunt, loading the bases, and pinch-hitter Justin Ellison drew the decisive base on balls from Legends reliever Franco Terrero.

Rome took the early lead with a run in the bottom of the first inning. Ray-Patrick Didder led off with a single and moved to third on a single by Kevin Josephina, who was thrown out trying to go to second. Didder came home on a ground out by Austin Riley.

The Braves added a run in the fourth on a double by Jonathan Morales, a ground out and a wild pitch.

The Legends got a run back in the top of the fifth when Xavier Fernandez singled with one out and scored on a double by Jecksson Flores. They tied the game in the sixth. D.J. Burt led off with a single, stole second and came home on a two-out single by Brandon Dulin.

The score remained 2-2 until the ninth.

Devan Watts (1-0), who entered the game in the eighth inning, got the win. Terrero (2-1), who also entered in the eighth, was the losing pitcher.

Legends starter Emilio Ogando worked the first seven innings. He allowed six hits and two runs, struck out seven batters and walked none.

The Braves won two out of three in the series.

The Legends return home to open a four-game series Saturday night against the Columbia Fireflies. Game time at Whitaker Bank Ballpark is 6:35 p.m.
