Romano Announces Commitment to SUNY-Geneseo

JOHNSTOWN - The Johnstown Tomahawks are pleased to announce the commitment of former Tomahawks alternate captain and forward Andrew Romano to the State University of New York-Geneseo (SUNY-Geneseo), a prominent Division III hockey program.
Located in Geneseo, N.Y., the Knights compete in the State University of New York Athletic Conference.
Romano set the franchise mark for assists in a season with 39 helpers. He also earned career highs in goals with 17 on the season. The Drexel Hill, Pa., native finished his junior hockey career second in franchise all-time points with 80 in two seasons.
"Andrew was an outstanding player for us over his two seasons," Tomahawks head coach, Mike Letizia, said. "Both years he was one of our team captains, displaying a constant compete level and high character. He can be a dynamic playmaker and he plays 200 feet of the ice, which is so valuable in today's game. I am very proud of him and look forward to his continued success on and off the ice."
Knights head coach, Chris Schultz, said SUNY-Geneseo was "excited to add an offensive talent like Andrew."
"His speed, vision and hockey sense are attributes that should pay immediate dividends at our level," Schultz said. "We look forward to seeing Andrew's worth ethic and perseverance pay off over the next four years, both on the ice and in the classroom."
Romano represented the East Division at the 2016 Top Prospects Tournament in Plymouth, Mich., a prestigious tournament that was watched by college and professional scouts from across the country. He chipped in two assists in two contests.
