Rodriguez's Go-Ahead Slam Lifts Baysox to 7-3 Win

Aderlin Rodriguez Notches Third Multi-Home Run Game of Season as Baysox Split Series

ALTOONA, Pa.- Aderlin Rodriguez's go-ahead grand slam in the top of the sixth lifted the Bowie Baysox (69-63) to a 7-3 win over the Altoona Curve (70-62) on Sunday night at Peoples Natural Gas Field in Altoona.

Trailing 2-1, a hit by pitch, single and walk loaded the bases before Rodriguez cleared the bases with his two-out slam off of LHP Jake Brentz (0.2 IP, H, R, ER, 3 BB, K) to give Bowie the lead for good at 5-2.

The magic number for the Baysox to clinch a playoff spot now sits at four.

Altoona starter Mitch Keller (1-2) gave up four runs on four hits to go along with a walk and seven strikeouts in 5.2 IP.

The Curve grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first when Cole Tucker led off with a triple and scored on Pablo Reyes' sac fly.

In the home half of the fourth, Anderson Feliz singled to start the frame, stole second, went to third on a single and scored on Wyatt Mathisen's sac fly to open up a 2-0 lead for the hosts.

The Baysox got on the board in the fifth with Ryan Mountcastle's solo shot that cut the lead to 2-1. The home run was Mountcastle's second of the year with Bowie.

Bowie starter Yefry Ramirez (14-3) allowed three runs on seven hits while fanning one in 5.2 IP. LHP Paul Fry (2.2 IP, BB, 6 K) and RHP Scott McGough (1.0 IP, H, K) combined to close things out for the Baysox.

Fry has not allowed a run in his first 10.2 IP with Bowie.

Altoona got a run back in the sixth to cut the lead to 5-3 as Reyes led off with a single, advanced to third on a single and scored later in the frame on Jin-De Jhang's RBI groundout.

Rodriguez struck again with a two-run shot in the eighth to stretch the Baysox lead to 7-3. The home run was Rodriguez's 20th of the season.

Austin Hays (3-5, 2B, R) and Rodriguez (3-5, 2 HR, 6 RBI, 2 R) both had multi-hit games for manager Gary Kendall's squad.

The Baysox return home to open a four-game set with the Trenton Thunder on Monday night at Prince George's Stadium. First pitch of the series opener is set for 7:05 p.m. with LHP Tanner Scott (0-2, 2.39) on the mound for Bowie against Trenton RHP Dillon Tate (1-2, 3.66).
