Trenton Thunder News Release

(Portland, ME) - Reynaldo Rodriguez hit a three-run home run in the first and then a two-run blast in the eighth giving the Portland Sea Dogs all their offense in a 5-2 win against the Trenton Thunder Tuesday night at Hadlock Field. Stolmy Pimentel and Josh Fields combined on a five-hitter for the Sea Dogs, who have taken the first two in the three-game series and will go for a sweep Wednesday night.

Rodriguez blasted his first long ball against Trenton starter Shaeffer Hall (8-7) with one out in the first inning after Jackie Bradley Jr. led off with a single and Marquez Smith hit a one-out double. After Hall held Portland scoreless until the eighth inning, he was lifted with two outs in favor of Ryan Pope who allowed Rodriguez's second homer.

Pimentel (4-4) allowed four hits and two runs in 6.1 innings of work, striking out six and at one point retiring 11 consecutive Trenton batters. Fields entered with one out in the seventh and allowed only one hit the rest of the way, striking out five en route to his seventh save.

Kevin Mahoney doubled and drove in a run for the Thunder while David Adams singled to extend a hitting streak to 12 consecutive games. Hall was charged with four runs and seven hits in 7.2 innings of work.

The teams will conclude the series and Trenton tries to avoid being swept for the first time this season on Wednesday night at 6:00 pm. Right-hander Brett Marshall (10-4, 2.97) is expected to start for Trenton while Portland counters with righty Jason Urquidez (1-2, 3.72). Radio coverage on 91.3 FM (WTSR), 1490 AM (WBCB) and also streaming online begins at 5:45 pm.
