Grand Junction Jackalopes News Release
With the tying run at third base in the bottom of the ninth inning, Lane Hobbs struck out Colton Welker and Hunter Melton to seal the Great Falls Voyagers 1-0 win over the Grand Junction Rockies Monday night at Suplizio Field.
Having not scored a run all night, Vince Fernandez gave them their best chance after he tripled with one in the inning to extend his hit streak to 19 games, but he was stranded sending the Rockies to 15-21 on the season.
Grand Junction was held four hits, as it was shutout for the first time all season.
Great Falls used back-to-back singles in the second inning to produce the game's only run off Alejandro Requena, who allowed four hits in six inning with six strikeouts. The Rockies' bullpen trio of Heath Holder, Matt Dennis, and Kenny Oakley combined to keep the Voyagers off the board for three innings.
Chris Comito earned the win for Great Falls, keeping Grand Junction to three hits over six innings with eight strikeouts. Aaron Bummer pitched a 1-2-3 seventh inning, while Hobbs recorded the game's final six outs.
