Rockford Rampage Win Season Opener

Bojan Jovicic scored 4 goals leading the expansion Rockford Rampage to 6-1 season opening victory over the Ohio Vortex Saturday night.

Jovicic got Rockford off to an early lead with a pair of first quarter unassisted tallies. The Rampage closed out the open period scoring when goalkeeper Ante Cop fed Peter Kolasinski to make it a 3-0 advantage.

The hat trick by Jovicic was completed on a Rockford short handed goal. Joel Del Toro with the assist on the only score of the 2nd quarter.

Eric Lukin added another Rampage unassisted goal at 9:05 of the 3rd quarter to extend Rockford's lead to 5-0

Despite matching Rockford's shots on goal 18-18, the home Vortex were only able to find the back of the net once. Ross Ashley notched on the only score for Ohio 5:25 into the final period to cut the lead to 5-1. Jovicic answered with his 4th goal of the night 3 minutes later to end the scoring at 6-1.

Cop was rock solid in goal with 18 saves, helping the Rampage win their first game of the new 2012-13 PASL season, on the road.

The Rampage have a pair of road games next weekend (Friday night at Illinois Piasa, Saturday at Cincinnati Kings ) before returning to Rockford for the home opener Saturday November 24 against the expansion Chicago Mustangs.
