Rockford Grabs Two Wins in Week 11

The American Hockey League's Midwest Division is as tight as any in the league and the Rockford IceHogs are keeping pace. The IceHogs won two of three games in Week 11, capped by a thrilling 3-2 come-from-behind victory over the Abbotsford Heat at the BMO"ˆHarris Bank Center on"ˆSaturday. Heading into the Christmas break, Rockford sits in second place in the Midwest Division, two points behind Grand Rapids with two games on the Week 12 docket, both against divisional opponents.

Bacon Bits:

Rockford picked up their fifth, third period come-from-behind win on Saturday and are now 5-9-1-0 when trailing entering the third period

Goalie Carter Hutton allowed just five goals in Week 11 in three games

Hutton finished the week with a .950 save percentage and a 1.68 goals against average

Center Brandon Pirri tallied his team-leading fourth game-winning goal on Saturday

Pirri now has 10 career game-winning goals with Rockford, tied with Jack Skille and Evan Brophey for most in Hogs history

The center's goal on Saturday was also his 45th career lamp lighter with Rockford, moving him into second on Rockford's all-time AHL goal scoring list

Jack Skille tops the list with 59 goals

Rockford fell 2-1 in Milwaukee on Friday night, the club's sixth game this season to finish 2-1 through 30 contests

The IceHogs are 3-4-0-0 when giving up two goals in a game this season

The IceHogs are 2-4-0-0 in those six 2-1 decisions

16 of Rockford's first 30 games have finished as one-goal contests

Hot Hog: Week 11

Carter Hutton Goalie

Rockford goaltender Carter Hutton turned in three strong performances in Week 11 for Rockford, earning a pair of wins and just five total goals. On Wednesday, Hutton shutdown the Milwaukee Admirals after giving up an early first period goal, making 29 saves in a 3-1 win. In Friday's rematch in Milwaukee, Hutton turned away 36 of 38 shots in a tough 2-1 loss. Hutton and the Hogs rebounded on Saturday as the backstop picked up his 11th win of the season. After giving up two first period goals, Hutton blanked the Abbotsford Heat the rest of the way, turning away 31 shots in a 3-2 come-from-behind win. In three games, Hutton finished with a .950 save percentage and a 1.68 goals against average.

Upcoming Games:

Thursday, Dec. 27 vs. Chicago Wolves: Puck drops at 7:05 p.m. as the Hogs play host to the Chicago Wolves in an Illinois Lottery Cup matchup and for the sixth time on the campaign. Rockford holds a 1-3-0-1 record thus far against their division rival.

Saturday, Dec. 29 vs. Milwaukee Admirals: Beginning at 7:05 p.m. the two foes will meet for the sixth time this season, and for the fifth and final time during the month of December. The two squads will square off another six times during the season. The first 1,500 kids (14 and under) will receive a youth jersey courtesy of Rockford Orthopedic.

Bud Light Hog Talk Back in 2013:

Bud Light Hog Talk will be off the next two weeks, but returns on January 7 to District Bar and Grill from 6-7 p.m. District is located one block north of the BMO"ˆHarris Bank Center.
