Rockets Beat Blazers 4-0 in Game 5

Michael Herringer stopped 42 shots to earn his second shutout of the series in a 4-0 win for the Rockets.

The Blazers had a solid start, but the tables turned in the Rockets favour early in the first period.

The Rockets earned a power play after a long shift in the Blazers zone. Rodney Southam banked home a rebound on the ensuing power play as the puck just squeaked over the goal line for a 1-0 Rockets lead.

The Blazers had two first period power plays, but come up empty handed as the Rockets led 1-0 after the first frame.

Rodney Southam scored his second goal of the game 2:35 into the second period. His shot on an odd man rush sneaked by goaltender Connor Ingram's blocker for a 2-0 lead.

Rourke Chartier made it 3-0, tipping home a shot on the power play.

Southam completed his hat trick burying a goal on an odd man rush for a 4-0 Rockets lead midway through two periods.

With the healthy lead, the Rockets were in full control going into the third period.

The Blazers started to generate some shots, but lacked traffic in front of Herringer most of the night.

In the end, the Blazers finished 0-for-7 on the power play and lost 4-0 in Game 5. With the loss, the Rockets now lead the best-of-seven series 3-2 with Game 6 in Kamloops on Saturday night.

Michael Herringer had the shutout with 42 saves and Connor Ingram stopped 24 shots in the loss.
