Rock Cats Win Third Straight Game

The New Britain Rock Cats defeated the Binghamton Mets 3-1 Saturday night in front of 5,323 fans at New Britain Stadium. The victory was the third straight for the Rock Cats who have won their past three series at home. Chad Bettis started the game for New Britain on Major League rehab and pitched 3.1 scoreless innings while Ryan Arrowood recorded his first win of the season in relief. The Rock Cats have won six of their last eight home games.

The Rock Cats scored the first run of the game on a 2-out RBI single by Jordan Patterson scoring Pat Valaika in the first inning. New Britain added two more runs in the fourth inning and run scoring singles by Joey Wong and David Dahl to make it 3-0.

RHP Chad Bettis started for the Rock Cats and after throwing 27 pitches in the first inning settled down and was sharp. He worked 3.1 scoreless innings and allowed just two hits with two walks and four strikeouts and departed with a 1-0 lead.

The B-Mets scored their only run in the 6th inning on a one out RBI single by Vince Belnome scoring former Rock Cats star Joe Benson for second base. Binghamton had the bases loaded with out in the 6th inning and managed just the one run against reliever Ryan Arrowood.

Carlos Estevez hurled a 1-2-3 ninth inning with a strikeout to earn his 8th save of the season.

The Rock Cats will go for a 3-game sweep against the B-Mets on Sunday afternoon at 1:35 PM at New Britain Stadium. LHP Harrison Musgrave will start for New Britain and RHP Tyler Pill will start for Binghamton.
