Rochester Rhinos Travel to Louisville for Eastern Conference Semifinals

ROCHESTER, NY - Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good! Stefan Defregger's freak goal off a wicked deflection in the 113th minute was the difference as the #4 Rochester Rhinos came out of Capelli Sport Stadium with a 2-1 extra time victory over the #5 Charlotte Independence to move onto the USL Eastern Conference Semifinals where they will face #1 Louisville City FC.

The substitute Defregger scored less than a minute after he stepped onto the pitch, ironically deflecting off the heel that's plagued him for much of the season. He will be interviewed tonight on Soccer is a Kick in the Grass at 7PM on WYSL 1040AM/92.1FM.

Jochen Graf extended his goal streak to 4 with a beautifully headed effort in the 53rd minute. Man of the Match Ray Lee sent in a fantastic ball off a quickly-taken free kick that Graf placed into the corner for his 11th goal of the season. Charlotte's Enzo Martinez would counter off a beautiful backheel by teammate Jaime Saij to level at 1.

In extra time, Rhinos captain Kenardo Forbes received the ball in a promising position, let his defender run by him and took a shot. The ball caromed off Defregger; who was making a near-post run, and into the net to give the Rhinos a 2-1 lead that would hold up.

The Rhinos travel to #1 Louisville City FC this Saturday for the USL Eastern Conference Semifinals. This is the third time they'll face off in less than 6 weeks. Louisville won the first contest 2-1 at home via a last-second penalty kick before coming to Rochester 10 days later to share a 0-0 draw.
