Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders News Release

MOOSIC, Pa. - In tough times, we look to our leaders. On a frigid, late March morning with snow cascading down upon PNC Field, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders president/general manager Rob Crain gave the gift of a guarantee that spring will have sprung in time to play ball.

Clad in floral orange shorts and a RailRiders t-shirt while wearing a face of both fun and fierce determination, the RailRiders' venerable top executive issued assurance that families and baseball enthusiasts will be comfortable when the gates open a week from Thursday.

"I guarantee that on Opening Day April 4 it will be at least 60 degrees," said Crain. "To back my guarantee, if it is not 60 degrees on April 4, then anyone who comes to Opening Day will get a free Sunday through Thursday ticket any day the rest of the entire 2013 season." Please note, the free ticket offer excludes the special holiday home game on the Fourth of July.

The RailRiders' 2013 season gets underway with the grand opening of a reconstructed PNC Field on April 4 when the defending IL champion Pawtucket Red Sox come to town for a rematch of their 2012 playoff clash with SWB. It will mark the first "Thirsty Thursday" promotion of the year with $1 beer specials and $1 Pepsi products along with a pre-game live band performance and post-game fireworks. Single-game tickets are on sale now.
