Road Warriors Can't Solve Royals in Loss

Greenville SC: The Reading Royals scored three goals in the third period to top Greenville 6-3 on Wednesday night.
The game started off in Reading's favor as the Royals threw multiple chances towards goaltender Bryan Hince. The Road Warriors returned the pressure on Philipp Grubauer towards the end of the period but both teams were held without a goal in the period.
The second period was eventful with six goals scored, three from each team. Jeremy Gouchie began the scoring 2:11 into the first period with his fifth goal of the season. The 1-0 score would stand until halfway through the period where the Royals began an offensive onslaught. Three goals were scored in a matter of 2:31. Stan Galiev and Adam Comrie scored on the powerplay while Kirk MacDonald scored even strength. The Road Warriors would recover quickly. Brendan Connolly scored his eight goal of the year bringing the score to 3-2. The second period closed with Scott Pitt scoring a backhander with just 29 seconds left. Greenville outshot Reading in the period 21-18.
The third period was controlled by the Royals as they scored three more goals to secure the victory. Barry Almeida began the scoring pace again for the Royals with his second of the year. The Royal's powerplay tally it's third goal of the game as MacDonald found the back of the net, making the score 5-3. An empty netter was notched by David Marshall to give the 6-3 victory for the Royals. Grubauer was the winning goaltender stopping 34 of 37 shots. Hince took the loss with 35 saves.
The Road Warriors visit Florida this weekend for a two game series against the Everblades. Friday and Saturday's game will begin at 7 p.m. and can be heard courtesy of America One or by clicking the Listen Live Link on the Road Warriors' home page.
The Road Warriors return home next Friday and Sunday. Friday night's game features Hockey Happy Hour beginning at 5 p.m. in the Charter Business Plaza as Greenville hosts Gwinnett. Fans can enjoy free food, discounted drinks and live entertainment courtesy of Zirkelbach Construction, WSSL 100.5 and ABC Party Rentals. Friday will also be Teddy Bear Toss Night Benefiting Toys for Tots Program. Fans can bring their teddy bear to the game and threw their bear on the ice after the Road Warriors score their first goal. The bears will be donated to Toys for Tots on December 8 by the Road Warriors players and Rowdy at Sitton Buick.Tickets are on sale now at the BI-LO Center Box Office and ticketmaster.com.
