Alaska Aces News Release

LOVELAND, COLORADO - Defenseman Sam Jardine score the game-winning goal at 1:08 of the overtime period, as the Colorado Eagles downed the Alaska Aces 3-2 Sunday afternoon at the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland.

Alaska captures a point from the contest, and wrapped up their 3 week, 10 game road trip at 5-3-2, and grabbed 12 points along the way.

The Aces got on the board first...Tyler Shattock made his way toward the hash marks in the slot and lifted the puck past Eagles goaltender Kent Simpson. The goal, Shattock's 12th of the season, was assisted by Danny Moynihan and Charlie Sampair.

Shots at the end of one period: Colorado 11, Alaska 7.

The Eagles would tie the score at 8:06 of the second period on Matt Garbowsky's 33rd goal of the season...assists to Ryan Harrison and Matt Register.

Alaska continued their second period battle...literally, at 8:06 as Pavel Laplante took on Eagles bruiser Darryl Bootland. Laplante acquitted himself well, and the energized Aces would score before the end of the period.

Tim Coffman was in the lower left circle in the Colorado zone when he spotted Tim Wallace racing down the right side. A crisp pass found Wallace, and he zapped the puck top-shelf past Simpson to give the Aces a 2-1 lead.

Shots after two periods favored Colorado 25-16.

In the third period, a ghastly turnover would cost the Aces the lead. While killing a penalty, Aces goaltender Kevin Carr went behind his net to play the puck. He tried to lift the puck out, but didn't get it high enough. Cam Maclise batted the puck down, and with Carr caught out of the net, zipped the puck home to tie the game at 2-2.

In the overtime, Eagles forward Luke Salazar and Jardine raced into the Aces zone 2 on 1. Salazar placed the puck perfectly to Jardine in the left circle, and Jardine beat Carr with a wrister to end the contest at 1:08.

Final shots were 38-21 Colorado.

Alaska was 0-3 on the power play, Colorado 1-3.

The Aces now return home to face the Cincinnati Cyclones Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at 7:15pm ADT at the Sullivan Arena.

Tickets are available at www.alaskaaces.com or by stopping by the Aces ticket office at 15th and Gambell in Anchorage.
