Camden Riversharks News Release

Camden, NJ - The Riversharks rally fell short against the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs in their 7-6 loss on Tuesday night.

Despite the Riversharks not collecting their first hit until the fifth inning when Evan Crawford doubled in Carlos Guzman, the Riversharks fought back to bring the go ahead run to the plate in the ninth inning.

Once the 'Sharks jumped on the scoreboard, the offense strung together a couple of good innings in the sixth and eighth innings to chip away at the lead. However, it would not be enough to overcome the Blue Crabs early power surge.

Mike Costanzo crushed a deep two-run homerun to right field in the sixth, and Ryan Strieby drove in Michael Rockett on a sacrifice fly in the eighth.

Riversharks starter Fu-Te Ni gets his first loss of the season after allowing five runs, seven hits, and two walks in his four innings of work.

Cyle Hankerd made the most noise in the Blue Crabs line up, homering in back-to-back innings. Both were solo shots in the fourth and fifth innings, giving the Blue Crabs the momentum they needed.

Blue Crabs starter Jake Hale went six strong innings, striking out three while allowing four runs and four hits.

Casey Stevenson played a big part in the Blue Crabs victory reaching base all four times he came to bat and scoring three runs.

Riversharks will look to even the series tomorrow with their 11:05am start time. Wes Torrez will be on the mound for the Riversharks in tomorrow's contest.
