Rivermen Prepare to Give Back on Thanksgiving Weekend

PEORIA, IL - The Peoria Rivermen are excited to team up with the Salvation Army to give back to the community as the Rivermen prepare for a pair of home games this Friday and Saturday against the Evansville Thunderbolts.

The Rivermen will host their annual Salvation Army Coats for Kids Night on Friday, with fans who bring a new or gently used coat to donate to the Salvation Army receiving a special offer from the Rivermen. All coats will benefit local adults and children in Peoria and throughout central Illinois.

Saturday's game will be the site of Peoria's annual Salvation Army Teddy Bear Toss, with fans invited to bring stuffed animals to throw on the ice after the first Peoria goal. Collected bears and other stuffed animals will be donated to the local branch of the Salvation Army for local distribution to those in need this holiday season.

In addition to Friday's Coats for Kids drive, the Rivermen are offering a special deal on tickets for Friday's game, with fans able to receive $5 Pilot House and $10 premium tickets by purchasing through the team office from 10 AM to 3 PM on Black Friday.

Saturday will also feature a special appearance by World Series MVP and Chicago Cubs infielder Ben Zobrist as part of Peoria's Hometown Heroes Series presented by CEFCU and the Peoria Civic Center. The Eureka, IL native will be appearing before the game to drop a ceremonial first puck and receive a proclamation from the City of Peoria.
