March 2, 2013 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Peoria Rivermen News Release

Jake Allen stopped the final 28 shots on net as the Peoria Rivermen scored the final four goals of the game as they beat the Grand Rapids Griffins 4-1 on Saturday night at Carver Arena. Four different goal scorers erased Grand Rapids' early 1-0 lead as the Rivermen entertained 6,835 before heading out on a season-long six-game road trip.

Just over 3 minutes into the first period, the AHL points-leader Gustav Nyquist collected his 22nd goal of the season. As he attempted a pass across the Rivermen slot, the puck deflected off a defenseman's skate and past Allen. It was officially the first shot of the game for the Griffins who did not score again.

Mark Cundari and Sergey Andronov scored goals 11 seconds apart to give Peoria a 2-1 lead still in the early stages of the first period. Cundari fired home his second goal in as many nights with a slapshot from the point at 8:22 and Andronov ripped home a wrist shot from inside the right circle at 8:33. The goal was Andronov's eighth of the season and was assisted by TJ Hensick and Derek Nebsitt.

In the second, Brent Regner blasted in his second goal of the season just 36 seconds into the frame. Brett Sonne helped feed Regner at the point who let go of his shot from the top of the right circle.

The 3-1 score stood until the final minute of regulation when Evgeny Grachev added the empty-netter. His 10th of the season was also setup by the tandem of Hensick and Nebsitt as the Rivermen improved to 4-2-0 this season against the Red Wings affiliate.

Peoria outshot Grand Rapids 17-6 in the first period and 32-29 overall as both teams went 0-for-3 on the power play.

The Rivermen begin a six-game road trip against the Lake Erie Monsters on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. All games can be heard on CD Country 107.9 FM or online through www.rivermen.net.
