4619625146050A SAINTLY DEBUT

The Rivermen got a 5-4 overtime win last night in Knoxville due in no small part to the contributions of winger Maxime St-Cyr. The former QMJHL goal scoring champion posted a hat trick and an assist in his SPHL debut after Peoria signed him to a 3-game tryout contract yesterday morning. St-Cyr spent last season with ECHL Florida and began this year in Norfolk before the Admirals released him last Monday. In his ECHL career, St-Cyr has logged ten goals and six assists over 56 contests.

GO-GO GORMAN

In addition to St-Cyr's hat trick last night, Peoria got a pair of goals and an assist from rookie winger Connor Gorman, marking Gorman's first career three-point game. This year with Peoria, the SUNY-Plattsburgh product has notched three goals and assisted on three others, including a two-point performance at Macon October 28. In his college career, the Shrewsbury, MA native scored 34 goals and potted 34 assists over 104 career games.

TURNING THE TIDES

The Rivermen come into play today in fourth place in the SPHL at 5-3-1. Since a pair of losses opening weekend, the Rivermen have gone 5-1-1, and out-scored their opponents 25-17. Last season the Rivermen ran away with the SPHL regular-season points championship, reeling off a league-record 13-game win streak from late December until late January, including 11 straight wins on the road. This year, the Rivermen have rebounded from their opening weekend defeats this year to record standings points in six of their last seven contests, and Peoria has won three of their last four and five of their last seven after last night's overtime win in Knoxville.

WHAT'S AHEAD

After today's game in Huntsville, the Rivermen will conclude their road trip with another 3 PM game at Mississippi. After that, the Rivermen will return home to Carver Arena for a pair of games with the expansion Evansville Thunderbolts November 25 and 26, with both games beginning at 7:05. Peoria will then return to the road the following weekend for games at Huntsville December 1 and Columbus December 2 & 3.

2162175146050WALK OFF WINNER

The Rivermen enter today's game in Huntsville after a come-from-behind 5-4 overtime win over the Ice Bears in Knoxville last night. The win lifts the Rivermen into 4th place in the SPHL standings with two more games remaining on their three-game, three-day, three-city road trip.

THE SERIES

Today marks the fourth of six meetings this season between the Rivermen and Havoc. Huntsville took a pair of games 6-1 and 5-1, respectively, on opening weekend before winning 4-3 at Carver Arena last Saturday. After today the Rivermen and Havoc will conclude their season series with a December 1 matchup at the Von Braun Center. Last season Peoria swept the season series, winning December 20 at Huntsville before taking pairs of games January 1 & 2 in Peoria, and January 15 & 16 and March 11 & 12 in Huntsville.

SCOUTING THE HAVOC

The Havoc enter play tonight paced in point production by Dylan Nowakowski, who has tallied five goals and five assists in eight games this season. Lou Educate is the Havoc's leading goal scorer, posting six tallies and one assist in just seven games, with all six of his markers coming in three games against the Rivermen. In net, the Havoc have been backstopped to their 7-1-0 record primarily by Adam Courchaine. The former Louisiana IceGator has posted a 2.23 GAA ad a .917 save percentage over six appearances, going 5-0-0 between the pipes in the process.

FAST STARTERS

The Havoc have opened this season by roaring out to a 7-1-0 record through their first eight games, out-scoring their opponents 32-18 in the process. Last season the Havoc started the year 5-4-0, finishing the season 7th in the SPHL standings at 26-26-4 before being swept by eventual champion Pensacola in the opening round of the President's Cup Playoffs. Among the differences between last year's Havoc team and the present squad has been the team discipline, with Huntsville entering play today as the least penalized team in the SPHL at 9.25 PIM per game after the Havoc were whistled for 22.89 penalty minutes per game last year.
