HEY MR. WILSON
Last night's 7-1 Rivermen victory in Macon included two goals and two assists for veteran winger Chris Wilson, tying a season-high with four points. Wilson notched his 250th career point with an assist last Sunday and now has 254 points in 244 career professional games, all in the SPHL.
THE MEN BEHIND THE MASKS
The Rivermen enter play tonight with the reigning co-SPHL players of the week, goaltenders Kyle Rank and David Jacobson, between the pipes. For the season, Rank is 15-4-2 with a league-best 2.04 GAA as well as a .930 save percentage, and until last Saturday he had not lost in regulation since a December 4 game at Mississippi, a span of nine starts. Since joining the Rivermen Jacobson has gone 7-0-0 with a 1.72 GAA and a .938 saves rate, giving him a 7-4-0 overall SPHL record with a 2.29 GAA and a .916 save percentage this season.
BRING THE ASSISTS TOOMEY
Last night's Peoria victory included a career-high three points, all assists, from rookie Rivermen center Connor Toomey. In 12 games since being acquired in a trade with Macon, Toomey has tallied six goals and seven assists for the Rivermen after the he had 14 points in 17 games with the Mayhem to begin his pro career.
THE WHOLE SHOOTING MATCH
The Rivermen come into tonight's contest leading the league in fewest shots on goal allowed per game at 28.50 and second in the SPHL at 34.59 shots taken on net per game. The Rivermen are out-shooting opponents 1176-969 overall, including a 421-298 margin in the first period of games, the widest margin for any SPHL team in any individual period this season.
WHAT'S AHEAD
After tonight's game the Rivermen will wrap up their season series with the FireAntz tomorrow night in Fayetteville. After that, the Rivermen will return to their home ice for a three-game set with Louisiana February 12-14. After a weekend without games Peoria will return to Carver Arena February 26 & 27 for a pair of games against the Knoxville Ice Bears.
