Rivermen Announce Roster Cuts

Peoria, IL - The Peoria Rivermen announced a series of roster cuts on Sunday, trimming their training camp list below the league's mandatory 22-man limit prior to Wednesday's final 19-man deadline. Among the remining Rivermen are 11 forwards, eight defensemen, and two active goaltenders.

Peoria's first round of roster cuts included forwards Chris Magi, Drake Hunter, and Tommy Mahoney, goaltenders Braeden Ostepchuk and Cody Porter, and defenseman Jake Hamilton. Additionally, goaltender Storm Phaneuf will be placed on injured reserve, and netminder Greg Dodds has been placed on team suspension.

Included on Peoria's newly trimmed roster are forwards Vincent Beaudry, Ben Blasko, Alec Hagaman, Justin Greenberg, Mike Gurtler, Joe Kalisz, Lane King, Guillaume Naud, Will Smith, Austin Vieth and Dean Yakura. Among Peoria's remaining defensemen are Domenico Argento, Jake Flegel, Ralfs Grinbergs, Ben Oskroba, Brandon Rumble, Chris Rygus, Olivier Schingh-Gomez, and Cody Smith, as well as goaltenders Mason Pulde and Aaron Taylor.

The Rivermen are expected to make more cuts Wednesday to reach the SPHL's 19-man regular-season limit before October 20's season opener at Quad City. The Rivermen will open the home portion of their regular season schedule at Carver Arena November 2 against the Quad City Storm, with tickets available through the Rivermen office at (309)-676-1040.
