Peoria Rivermen News Release
PEORIA, Ill. (May 13, 2009) - Chief Operating Officer Josh Morin announced today that the Peoria Rivermen have hired Karen Doering as the new controller of the team as well as Matt Brooks as corporate and group sales account executive.
Doering joins the Rivermen after more than eight years of service as the business manager for WMBD-TV. While she is entering into her first year in hockey, she is no stranger to Central Illinois. A native of Peoria, Doering is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Springfield. She and her husband, Michael, have three children: Melissa, Michael and Emily.
"Karen came highly recommended from a few prominent Peoria business individuals," said Morin. "She brings an immense amount of accounting experience and knowledge to our organization. I'm thrilled she's a part of our team."
Brooks spent the 2008-09 season as an intern with the Rivermen and recently accepted the position of account executive that will focus on corporate and group sales. The 22-year-old Chicago native graduated from Illinois State University in December 2008 with a degree in business administration. Brooks brings with him extensive knowledge of the sport after having served as both president and captain of ISU's hockey team.
"Matt earned this promotion because of the hard work and dedication he showed us during this past season while he was an intern," said Morin. "I'm confident that he will maintain that terrific work ethic and be a great addition to an already dynamic ticket sales staff."
Rivermen Full-Season Tickets for the 2009-10 campaign are now on sale at the Rivermen office. Call (309) 676-1040 for more information or to reserve you seats for next year. Visit Rivermen.net for more information.
