RiverKings Sign Energetic D-Man in Dean Moore
SOUTHAVEN, MS --- The Mississippi RiverKings of the Central Hockey League (CHL) today (September 17th, 2010) announced the signing of defenseman Dean Moore to the roster for the 2010-11 regular season. Moore brings 32 games in the professional ranks to the Mid-South along with a two-year junior career in the Eastern Junior Hockey League (EJHL).
Moore, a native of Bradenton, Florida, spent last season with four teams, ending his EJHL junior career with the Philadelphia Revolution and the New Jersey Hitmen, then moving into the professional ranks with Louisiana. There, he played 29 games for the IceGators, scoring two goals and adding five assists for seven points and 20 penalty minutes. He also appeared in three games with South Carolina in the ECHL, but did not score any points.
RiverKings Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Kevin "Killer" Kaminski says there will be few players who will be as energetic in their work ethic as Moore. "Dean brings heart, toughness, and energy," Kaminski said. "He's a strong skater and is a big, strong kid who will be a big presence in the corners and net front and will stick up for his teammates. He just has a great attitude and is full of energy."
In his stint in Louisiana, the 6-foot, 200-pound Moore scored two goals for seven points with 20 penalty minutes in 29 games to finish the season with the IceGators. He had one game with two assists against Knoxville on January 2nd and was a +4 against Huntsville on January 30th.
Moore did not score in his three appearances with South Carolina.
Moore's junior career included a personal high of nine goals, ten assists, and 19 points with the Bridgewater Bandits in 40 games of the 2008-09 season. His Bridgewater statistics also included a career high of 26 penalty minutes. He added one assist and four PIMS in four playoff games for Bridgewater.
Last season, Dean played 12 games each with Philadelphia and New Jersey, scoring one goal and adding six assists between the two teams. He picked up 22 PIMS combined in his final two junior stops before turning pro.
Moore is grateful to be able to take on the challenge of playing for the RiverKings. "Coach Kaminski was willing to give me an opportunity to come in and play and I'm grateful for the chance," Moore said. "I try to be an offensive defenseman, get involved in the rush and really get involved offensively." At the same time I really like to take care of my own end as my first priority as a defenseman. If I have to, I've fought a little bit, so I've done a little bit of everything and that makes a player like me valuable."
We're less than a month away from hometown pro hockey returning to the Mid-South for the RiverKings' 19th season of CHL action. THERE'S NO LIMIT to the excitement and fun of RiverKings' hockey! For ticket information, call the RiverKings at 662-342-1755 or online at www.riverkings.com today!
