RiverKings Add Size with Soumelidis

SOUTHAVEN, Miss. - Mississippi RiverKings Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Derek Landmesser announced today that the team has signed forward Stathis Soumelidis. Terms and conditions were not released.

Soumelidis (soo-muh-LID-is), 22, joins the RiverKings after beginning the season with FHL Berlin. In 12 games, the 6-foot-2, 205-pound rookie had 10 points (6G, 4A) and 19 penalty minutes. The Brno, Czech Republic native turned pro this season after splitting his juniors career with WHL Everett and NAHL Rio Grande where he posted a combined 28 goals, 24 assists and 217 penalty minutes in 113 games.

Soumelidis will wear 44 when the RiverKings take on Macon tonight at 6:30 p.m. in Macon. He replaces Ryan Stouffer on the roster after Stouffer was waived by the team on Wednesday.

The RiverKings return to Concorde Career College Ice at the Landers Center on Saturday, February 6 for the annual Pink in the Rink. The RiverKings will wear specialty pink jerseys to be auctioned off after the game to benefit the RiverKings ReachOut Fund. The RiverKings will also donate $2 of every ticket purchased by fans wearing pink to WINGS Supportive Care.
