River Rats Announce Training Camp Schedule

Albany River Rats News Release
ALBANY, NY - The Albany River Rats announced today the full schedule for the first week of their 2008 AHL training camp.
The River Rats will have the first on-ice session of their 2008 AHL Training Camp on Tuesday, September 30th with a 10:30 am practice at the Times Union Center; it will be the first official practice under new Head Coach/General Manager Jeff Daniels. Albany will open up their preseason schedule with a home exhibition game against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on Wednesday, October 1st at 7:00 pm. All River Rats training camp on-ice sessions are open to the media.

Early Friday the Carolina Hurricanes assigned 11 players to Albany for training camp: forwards Mike Angelidis, Nicolas Blanchard, Stefan Chaput, Nick Dodge, Patrick Dwyer, Bobby Hughes, Harrison Reed and Ryan Weston; defensemen Ryan McGinnis and Benn Olson; and goaltender David Leggio. Along with forward Yannick Tifu and defenseman Jonathan Paiement the River Rats have 13 players officially announced for their training camp roster. Albany plans to announce their initial training camp roster next Monday, September 29th.
The River Rats will open up the 2008-09 regular season schedule at home on Saturday, October 11th against Bridgeport with a 7:00 pm face off at the Times Union Center. River Rats season ticket packages and individual game tickets are on sale now for Albany's 16th season of operations in the American Hockey League and their third year as the primary affiliate of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes.
