O'Fallon, Mo. - The Lake Erie Crushers, presented by Mercy, were defeated by the River City Rascals, 6-3, as the two teams completed a game that was suspended in the fifth inning on May 14. The two teams were then rained out in the second inning of the second game.

The loss for the Crushers (27-32), finalizes the third game of the season and drops Lake Erie's home record to 16-14. The win for the Rascals (29-30) completes their first victory of the season on the schedule. River City is 20-12 when scoring first.

Game 1

On May 14, the score was 2-2 as the rain started to fall hard at All Pro Freight Stadium. In the top of the third inning, Dominique Taylor singled, stole second and then scored on an RBI double by Kyle Gaedele. In the bottom of the inning, Connor Oliver would hit a home run to right field to tie the game at 1.

In the fifth inning, the Rascals got a run as Taylor doubled and came around to score on an RBI triple to right by Johnny Morales. The Crushers tied the game at two in the bottom of the inning as Max Casper singled with one out, and then moved to second on an error by the second baseman. Casper scored on an RBI single off the bat of Parker Norris.

On Tuesday night, the game restarted with different lineups, rosters and a new coaching staff for the Crushers. Manny Arciniega took the mound in the top of the sixth inning and walked Willi Martin to start the inning and with one out, walked Alexi Colon. Both runners moved up on a wild pitch before Morales hit a two-run single to the fence in right field, putting River City up, 4-2.

The Rascals would add another run in the seventh inning when Josh Silver hit a solo home run to left field.

The Crushers responded when Oliver hit his second home run of the game to center field, making it a 5-3 Rascals lead.

However, the Rascals got a run in the top of the ninth inning when Gaedele knocked a solo homer to center field.

Steve Hagen started the game but only went 3.1 innings, allowing a run on six hits and striking out six Rascals. Arciniega (0-1) was given the loss as he was the first pitcher on when they resumed play tonight. He allowed three runs on two hits over two innings. Brad Duffy also went two innings, giving up a run on one hit.

Zeb Sneed (5-5) picks up the win because he was pitching when the game was suspended and the Rascals scored in the sixth inning. He went five innings, striking out five while allowing two runs. Zac Treece (13) picked up the save, going 1.2 innings and striking out two hitters.

Game 2

The Crushers and Rascals were scoreless going to the bottom of the first inning when the game was put under a delay for the first time, because of weather sirens in the area. Play resumed ten minutes later. However, in the bottom of the second inning, rain started to fall hard, prompting the turf to be put on the field. After an hour and 20 minutes, the field was ruled unplayable and the game would be suspended.

The two teams will play a double-header tomorrow at CarShield Field with left-hander Stetson Nelson (3-4, 4.50) on the mound for the Crushers and the Rascals will counter with righty Joe Pavlovich (1-1, 1.48). The first game will start at 12:05 PM and the teams will complete tonight's seven inning game before starting tomorrow's scheduled game.
