TODAY: The Richmond Flying Squirrels and Altoona Curve will meet in the finale of a four-game series...Altoona catcher Hector Gimenez capped off a 4-for-4 night with a pair of late home runs to help lift the Curve to a 5-2 win over the Flying Squirrels in game three of the series on Wednesday night at The Diamond.

TODAY'S STARTER: Left-hander Clayton Tanner gets the start in game four of the series for the Flying Squirrels...Earned his second win of the season in his outing against Bowie on 5/1...Allowed three runs, one earned, on four hits in five innings...Struck out three and walked one...All four hits allowed were singles...Gave up an unearned run in the top of the third inning on a Ryan Adams RBI single...Allowed a pair of runs, one earned, one unearned, in the top of the fifth inning...Threw 75 pitches, 43 strikes...Threw 20 pitches in the third inning and 27 pitches in the fifth...Threw 28 pitches in the first, second, and fourth combined...Recorded six ground outs, six fly outs, and three strike outs...Ranked 8th in the Eastern League with a 2.16 ERA.

Right-hander Derek Hankins gets the nod in game four of the series for the Curve...Got the win in his first start of the year 5/1 at Harrisburg...Tossed five scoreless innings and allowed only two hits...Struck out two and walked two...Was 1-0 with a 2.31 ERA in five appearances out of the Altoona bullpen...Earned his only other win against Richmond on 4/13 in a 1-0 Altoona win in 14 innings...Worked three scoreless innings and allowed just two hits while striking out three and walking two...Has allowed 13 hits in 16 2/3 innings of work (.232 OBA)...Has been on the Altoona roster for parts of the last three seasons...Went 3-4 with the Curve last season and posted a 4.42 ERA in 19 outings including nine starts...Went 2-11 with a 4.54 ERA in 24 games, 23 starts, with Altoona in 2008...Made one start with the Curve in 2007 and suffered the loss against Bowie after giving up six runs, five earned, on four hits in 3 2/3 innings...Originally selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 10th round of the 2004 First-Year Player Draft...Attended the University of Memphis.

LOSING GROUND: The Flying Squirrels have lost consecutive games after winning seven straight...Richmond has been outscored by Altoona 14-3 over the last two games and has been outhit 24-11...The Flying Squirrels had outscored their opponents 31-14 (4.4/2.0) over the previous seven games and outhit their opponents 59-41 (8.4/5.9)...Richmond got within 1 1/2 games of Altoona before dropping the last two contests to fall to 3 1/2 games back.

GOOD DAY: The Flying Squirrels enter today's contest 2-3 in day games...The club has one each of its last two day games including a 10:35 AM contest at New Britain last Wednesday...Richmond lost each of its first three day games.

GRAND FINALE?: Richmond is 3-4 in series finales entering today's contest with Altoona...The club has won each of its last two series finales at New Britain and against Bowie...The Flying Squirrels have won each of their last two series...Richmond is 1-1 in four-game series having lost three of four at Bowie (4/8-4/11) and won three of four against Reading (4/15-4/18).

SWING AND A MISS: The Flying Squirrels have struck out 34 times in the first three games of the series with the Curve...Richmond struck out a season-high 13 times on Monday night...Altoona left-hander Rudy Owens struck out 11 batters himself in six innings of work Tuesday night...Overall, the Flying Squirrels have struck out 183 times in 26 games...The club has struck out 66 times in six games against Altoona (11K/G)...Richmond has struck out an average of 7.8 times in its 15 other games.

CLAY-MATION: Outfielder Clay Timpner has hits in each of his last seven contests, his second hit streak of at least five games...He has also driven in at least one run in each of his last seven games...Currently on the homestand, the 26-year-old is 11-for-20 (.550) with four doubles, nine RBI, and two runs scored...Timpner is batting .476 (10-for-21) with runners in scoring position.

DOUBLETREE DOWNTOWN DOUBLE PLAYS: The Richmond Flying Squirrels have turned 31 double plays in their first 26 games...The club is in the Eastern League lead in double plays turned behind New Hampshire (32).

DEFENDING THE DIAMOND: The Flying Squirrels have committed just 11 errors in their first 26 games...Richmond has committed the fewest errors in the Eastern League and currently leads the league with a .989 fielding percentage.

CFS STAT OF THE NIGHT: After winning seven straight, the Flying Squirrels have lost two in a row...It is the first time the club has dropped two straight games since losing the final two contests at Reading 4/24-4/25...Richmond has not lost more than two straight games since losing five in a row 4/10-4/14.
