BROOKINGS, SD - Jon Richards scored twice while Robbie Goor made 29 saves as the Bruins shutout the Brookings Blizzard 3-0 on Friday night at Larson Ice Center.
Richards scored the lone goal of the first when he buried a rebound off a Zsombor Garat point shot at 6:48. He then scored the only goal of the 2nd, set up nicely by line mates Evan Cholak and Justin Misiak at 5:28. Robbie Goor kept momentum in the Bruins corner, making 23 saves through two periods.
In the 3rd, the Bruins held the Blizzard to just six shots, as Goor completed the shutout with the help of his penalty kill, which went 5 for 5 on the night. Brookings' best chance came when Derek Hammer hit the post on a breakaway with under four minutes left. Misiak scored an empty netter with 11 seconds to play to bring the score to a 3-0 final.
The Bruins improved to 3-3-1 and head to Aberdeen to take on Wings Saturday night at 7:15.
