Rhyne Hughes to Disabled List
August 7, 2006 - Midwest League (MWL1) - Southwest Michigan Devil Rays News Release
Battle Creek, MI-The Southwest Michigan Devil Rays announce that first baseman Rhyne Hughes has been added to the disabled list with a lower back injury that is retroactive to August 4th. Hughes was a Midwest League All-Star in 2006. In 98 games played this season, Hughes has batted .239 with two home runs and 33 RBI.
Taking Hughes' spot on the active roster is second baseman Eric Durante who is rejoining the team after he was sent down to Hudson Valley earlier this season. He was the Rays' 17th pick in the 2005 draft and played last year in Hudson Valley. In 12 games this year with Southwest Michigan, Durante has a batting percentage of .156 with five hits and three RBI. In 22 games played this season in Hudson Valley he is batting .182 with one home run and four RBI.
