Seattle, WA--The Texas Rangers today announced the right-handed pitcher Mark Lowe has been recalled from Triple-A Round Rock of the Pacific Coast League. Lowe will be in the bullpen for tonight's game against the Mariners in Seattle.

To make room for Lowe, right-handed pitcher Pedro Strop has been optioned to Round Rock.

In addition, the Rangers have officially sent right-handed pitchers Neftali Feliz and Tommy Hunter on rehab assignment to Double-A Frisco of the Texas League.

Lowe is 1-0 with a 2.89 ERA (9.1 IP, 7 H, 3 R-ER, 4 BB, 13 SO) in 6 relief appearances with the Express, holding the opposition to a .200 batting average. He has worked 4.1 scoreless innings in his last 3 outings, allowing one hit with 4 strikeouts in 2.0 innings in his last outing on Monday at Iowa. Lowe earned the victory in relief on April 22 at Oklahoma City.

The right-hander opened the season with the Rangers, compiling a 13.50 ERA (2.2 IP, 7 H, 4 R-ER, 1 BB, 1 SO) in 4 relief appearances before being optioned to Round Rock on April 18. Lowe is 5-15, 4.23 with 4 saves in 169 appearances with Seattle (2006-10) and Texas (2010-11) in his major league career.

Strop is 0-1, 3.72 in 11 appearances with the Rangers this season.

Feliz, who has been on the disabled list since April 23, retroactive to April 21, with right shoulder inflammation, is expected to start tonight and pitch one inning for Frisco against San Antonio at Dr Pepper Ballpark. Hunter, who has been on the DL all season with a right groin strain, is expected to follow Feliz and pitch 3.0-4.0 innings in his first rehab start.

With the moves, the Rangers' major league roster remains at the 40-man limit.
