Rhinos Sign Three Players

ROCHESTER, NY - The Rochester Rhinos announced today the signing of midfielders Jamie Franks and Alfonso Motagalvan and forward Andrew Hoxie pending USSF approval.

Franks, 23, joins the Rhinos after playing the 2009 season with the Wilmington Hammerheads (USL-2) and Charleston Battery (USL-1). In 17 matches with the Hammerheads Franks scored one goal and was loaned to Charleston where he appeared in two matches for the Battery. He was originally a fourth round pick (49th overall) of the 2009 MLS SuperDraft by Chivas USA.

"Jamie is an intelligent and creative player that can play numerous roles in midfield," said Rhinos head coach Bob Lilley. "He is very capable of delivering the final pass."

Franks has played with the USA Under-18 national team and was a member of the 2007 Wake Forest University Men's Division I Soccer Champions. During his college years Jamie also played for the Ocean City Barons and Carolina Dynamo in the United Soccer Leagues Premier Development League (PDL)

Motagalvan, 23, a native of Gilroy, California appeared in 12 regular season matches for the Ventura County Fusion picking up one assist as a member of the 2009 PDL championship team. He completed his four year collegiate career (2005-2008) at The University of California at Santa Barbara playing in 81 matches and was named All-Big West and All-Far West in 2008.

"Alfonso is a holding midfield player with very good passing ability and good instincts to read the game defensively," said Lilley.

Hoxie, 23 recently completed his senior season at The College of William and Mary garnishing the CAA Player of the Year as well as third team All-American honors in 2009. He finished his career scoring 35 goals and adding 21 assists for 91 total points.

"Andrew has good mobility for a big player that also posses good feet and the ability to create goal scoring and chances," said Lilley.

Andrew was drafted in the third round (37th overall) of the 2010 MLS SuperDraft by the San Jose Earthquakes having impressed scouts at the 2010 MLS Combine by scoring two goals and adding one assist in three games. During his college years Hoxie appeared in 46 games for the Virginia Legacy scoring 20 goals for the Premier Development Club (PDL).
