Rhinos Heartbroken as Ottawa Scores in the 89th Minute to Draw 1-1.

Ottawa's Tucker Hume scored in the 89th minute to draw the Rhinos 1-1 early Saturday afternoon at TD Place in Ottawa. The Rhinos move to 6-3-7 on the season and temporarily move into 6th place in the USL Eastern Conference going into Saturday night's slate of games.

Hume placed his looping header into the top left corner off the post directly from a throw-in to end Tomas Gomez's 340-minute shutout streak and deny the Rhinos three points.

Jochen Graf got the Rhinos on the board in the 15th minute. Wal Fall put a perfectly placed pass off the outside of his boot to Graf, who chipped it over Fury goalkeeper Callum Irving who got his fingers on it. Graf tracked the ball to the goal line and made the final touch to put the Rhinos up 1-0 early.

Graf nearly doubled the lead towards the end of the half as he nearly caught Irving out of net, only for the goalkeeper to get back just in time and force it out for a Rhinos corner.

Ottawa became further shorthanded as they were forced to make a pair of first-half substitutions, losing Shane McEleney and Ryan Williams to two injuries over an eight-minute span.

Rochester generally sat back most of the match denying Ottawa any dangerous opportunities, protecting their lead and springing into attack on the counter.

Just past the hour-mark, Kenardo Forbes slipped Graf in behind once again, with Irving rising to the occasion this time around with a big save.

Tomas Gomez had another outstanding performance in goal, coming off his line several times to deny Ottawa any dangerous opportunities for large portions of the match. Gomez made his first big stop in the 69th minute from an Ottawa corner. The Fury took it short and curled a ball into the box that found the head of Tucker Hume. Hume's goal-bound effort was punched aside by a sprawling Gomez to preserve the Rhinos lead.

Hume would have the last laugh as he got his head onto a long throw by Carl Haworth. Hume's effort floated into the top corner and took a kiss off the post before settling into the back of the net with a minute to go to take a point at home.

The Rhinos return home to Capelli Sport Stadium for a pair of home contests against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds and Toronto FC II on July 22nd and 26th, respectively.
