York Revolution News Release

Central Islip, NY- The York Revolution scored multiple runs in three separate innings and pulled away late to down the Long Island Ducks 9-4 on Friday evening in front of 6,802 fans at Bethpage Ballpark. The Revs have won back-to-back games, and three consecutive road contests as they go for a series win on Saturday evening.

The victory added to a franchise record for comeback wins in a season with their 42nd of the year, now six ahead of the previous mark (36 in 2008 and 2014).

Long Island grabbed a 2-0 lead in the third, as Mike Blanke led off the inning with a double and Anthony Vega dropped down a bunt single. A steal of second by Vega prompted a throwing error, bringing home Blanke with the first run. Vega scored an unearned run on a double play grounder off the bat of Dan Lyons.

The Revs responded right away with two runs in the fourth. Isaias Tejeda ignited the offense with a double off the left field fence to lead off. Kevin Rivers followed with a walk, and with one out, Michael Burgess chopped an RBI single up the middle to get the Revs on the board. Josh Wilson later lined a two-out RBI single to left-center, squaring things at 2-2.

York grabbed the lead for good with three runs in the fifth. The rally started with one out as Jared Mitchell walked, Tejeda doubled to left-center, and Rivers walked to load the bases. Andres Perez put the Revs on top with an RBI single to left, and with two outs, Bryan Pounds lined a two-run single to left-center, chasing Ducks righty John Brownell (9-8) after his shortest start of the season, 4.2 innings, with York leading 5-2.

The Ducks clawed back with two in the bottom of the fifth. Tyler Colvin connected on a leadoff home run to right, and with two outs, Fehlandt Lentini kept the inning alive with a double down the third base line. After Lentini stole third, Lyons reached on an intentional walk, and Delta Cleary, Jr. blooped an RBI single to left-center, cutting it to 5-4. York righty Ty'Relle Harris retired Lew Ford on a fielder's choice to short, stranding the tying run at third and finishing five innings to pick up the victory.

The Revs busted the game open with three runs in the top of the seventh. Taking advantage of four walks in the inning, York scored runs on a groundout from Burgess, an RBI double to left-center by Pounds, and a bases loaded free pass to Mitchell, as the Ducks needed three relievers to get through the bat-around inning.

York added one more in the ninth as Travis Witherspoon reached on a two-out infield single, stole second, and scored on a throwing error by third baseman Cody Puckett, attempting to make a charging play on a ground ball.

Jose Arredondo, Nate Reed, Manny Corpas, and Ricardo Gomez all tossed scoreless frames out of the York bullpen for a clean back end of the game, finishing the victory for Harris (5-6) who allowed just three earned runs out of four over his five innings of work.

Pounds led York with three RBI for the second straight night, going 2-for-5 at the plate. Perez paced the Revs in the hit column with a 3-for-4 performance. Tejeda slashed a pair of doubles for his 30th multi-hit game in just 58 games played with York.

The Revs took advantage of a season-high-tying 11 walks, one short of matching a club record for a nine-inning game. Mitchell and Rivers each took four walks in the game, tying a team record.

Notes: York remains half a game in front of Sugar Land for first place in the Freedom Division's second half at 33-27. The Revs also remain half a game in front of Somerset for the league's best overall record (now 73-57). Rivers becomes the first player in Revs history to draw four walks in a game twice, having done so on August 12 vs. Bridgeport; he joins Mitchell as the first pair of Revs to accomplish the feat in the same game. It marks only the sixth and seventh times in Revs history that a player has drawn four walks in a game. Tejeda now has four consecutive multi-hit games, batting .611 (11-for-18) on that stretch. Wilson has an RBI in six consecutive games. Pounds is now 6-for-11 with five extra-base hits and eight RBI in his last three games. Witherspoon stole a pair of bases, giving him 38 for the season and 31 with York, matching Justin Greene (2014) for the fourth-highest total in a season in Revs history. Mitchell stole his 22nd base, breaking a tie with six others for ninth most in a season. Harris struck out four batters, giving him 108 strikeouts on the season, tying Matt DeSalvo (2011) for ninth in a single-season. The Revs will aim for a season-high fourth straight road win on Saturday night at 6:35 p.m. with righty Tony Pena (7-9, 5.54) facing Ducks right-hander Matt Larkins, making his Atlantic League debut. Revs fans can catch the action on SportsRadio 1350, woyk1350.com, and on the WOYK mobile app beginning at 6:15 p.m. with Darrell Henry on the call.
