Revs Acquires Albright from Galaxy via Trade

New England Revolution News Release
BALTIMORE - The New England Revolution today acquired veteran U.S. National Team defender Chris Albright from the Los Angeles Galaxy in exchange for allocation money. The trade was announced during the 2008 MLS SuperDraft at the Baltimore Convention Center.
"We're thrilled to be able to add a proven defender like Chris to our roster," Revolution Director of Soccer Michael Burns said. "He's had success on the field at both the league and international levels, and he has experience winning championships with his past clubs."
Albright, 29, is entering his 10th season in MLS in 2008 after playing the last six seasons with the Galaxy. The right back has made 172 career appearances in MLS, scoring 11 goals and adding 20 assists. In 2007, Alright appeared in five regular-season games before suffering a torn right hamstring on May 20, ruling him out for the remainder of the season. He had recovered by the end of the season and participated in all five of the Galaxy's postseason friendlies.
A member of the U.S. National Team at the 2006 FIFA World Cup, Albright has also earned 22 caps with the national team.
Albright, originally a forward, was allocated to the Miami Fusion in 1999 as a Nike Project-40 player, but was traded to D.C. United on July 17. He made his MLS debut with United against the Revolution on July 25.
In 2002, Albright was traded to the Galaxy with a second-round pick in the 2002 MLS SuperDraft in exchange for the Galaxy's first- and second-round selections in the 2002 SuperDraft and a conditional pick in the 2003 SuperDraft.
Albright has won MLS Cup championships with three different teams: D.C. United in 1999 and the Galaxy in 2002 and 2005.
The Revolution begins the 2008 season at 7:30 p.m. on March 29 when the team hosts the Houston Dynamo at Gillette Stadium in a rematch of MLS Cup 2007. Fox Soccer Channel will televise the game nationally, and tickets to the match are available through the purchase of 2008 season tickets or special First Kick four-packs.
