York Revolution News Release

York, Pa.- York Revolution DH Joel Guzman and closer Mike DeMark were named to the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball's (ALPB) 2016 Post-Season All-Star Team while third baseman Bryan Pounds and pitcher James Simmons were named members of the 2016 Red, White and Blue All-Defense Team.

The Revolution players and their fellow honorees were selected through voting by league managers and executives, the results of which were announced earlier today by league officials. The complete list of All-Star and All-Defense Team members can be found at www.atlanticleague.com .

One of the top run producers in the league, Guzman spent the majority of the 2016 season pacing the circuit in RBI while finishing tied for third in the category with 85 on the season. In addition, the imposing right-handed slugger batted .278 in 122 games, mashing 16 home runs and 25 doubles with 140 total hits. Guzman represented the Revolution at the 2016 Atlantic League All-Star Game in Lancaster.

DeMark was the league's most dominant closer, successfully converting 35 of his 38 opportunities, while finishing with a scintillating 0.76 ERA in 47 appearances. The righty allowed just 27 hits in 47.2 innings for a .159 opponents average and walked just six (0.69 WHIP) while striking out 62. Along the way, DeMark set Revolution franchise records for season saves and saves in a Revs career (39), while lowering his career ERA with the Revs to a miniscule 0.95 mark in 86 lifetime appearances. DeMark opened the season with a team record 19 consecutive saves converted and did not allow an earned run in his first 18 appearances.

Pounds was one of the league's most consistent defensive stalwarts and was good for a highlight reel grab on a seemingly routine basis. The versatile infielder made 25 starts at second base in addition to 91 starts at third where he owned a solid .957 fielding percentage. Pounds enjoyed a perfect defensive stretch between May 18 and June 15, going a season-best 25 consecutive games without an error.

One of the Revs' most consistent starters on the mound in 2016, Simmons helped himself with the glove, going all 26 starts without committing an error. The righty logged 33 total chances (nine putouts, 24 assists) and combined on four double plays, the league's most by a pitcher.
