FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Revolution launched its own revolution today.

The Revolution, the Boston/Providence-area Major League Soccer club, has announced a new initiative to offer its most ardent and vocal supporters a special $200 season ticket.

The Supporter's Season Ticket, which will include standing-room seats in "The Fort," gives the club's hard-core supporters the chance to attend the entire 20-game home schedule (regular-season and special event games) and be located with like-minded fans in one area in the stadium - the north end of Gillette Stadium, under the lighthouse.

"Our goal is to create an authentic soccer atmosphere at Gillette Stadium, and an expanded and committed supporter's area is one of the fastest ways to help accomplish that," New England Revolution Chief Operating Officer Brian Bilello said. "Our fans in The Fort are some of our most passionate supporters and have been since the team was founded. They've created their own community and traditions and form the foundation of fan support in the stadium. We'd like to see that section grow, and we believe this special Supporter's Season Ticket will be a key to that."

The $200 Supporter's Season Ticket is part of a larger initiative to engage the team's adult fan base. Also launched today was the team's "Defend the Fort" campaign, which will kick off on the team's official web site, revolutionsoccer.net, and will soon include a Revolution social network for members and non-members alike, as well as downtown supporters' events at popular social establishments.
