Revolution Announces Signings of Four Players

Foxborough, Mass. - The New England Revolution announced today that M Leandro de Oliveira, the Revolution's first round selection (11th overall) in the 2006 MLS SuperDraft, has signed with the club. The Revolution also announced the signings of F Kyle Brown and M Jani Galik as well as D Pat Haggerty, formerly of Boston College. Per league and team policies, contract terms are not disclosed.

De Oliveira, a Brazil-born, left-footed, attacking midfielder, joins the Revs after a standout college career at the University of Alabama-Birmingham. He was second team NSCAA All-America in 2003 and was first team All-Conference USA in 2003 and 2004. Born in São Paolo, Brazil, he calls Bryan, Texas home and played at University of Connecticut for a season (2002) before transferring to UAB.

The Revolution chose Brown in the 3rd round (35th overall) in the 2006 MLS SuperDraft. A dynamic forward, Brown impressed with the Revs during preseason 2006. In college at the University of Tulsa, the Southlake, Texas product received all-conference first team honors four times. A standout in high school in both soccer and football, Brown was the Fort Worth Star-Telegram Offensive Player of the Year and Male Athlete of the Year in football after surpassing 2,000 all-purpose yards as a senior slot back at Southlake High School.

A native of the Czech Republic, transplanted to Sarasota, Florida, Galik is a defensive midfielder who comes to the Revolution after two strong seasons with the Bradenton Academics of the Premier Development League (USL).

The Revs signed Haggerty after tracking him during his excellent college career at BC where he was a vital member of the Eagles defense for four seasons. A First Team All-Big East performer in his senior year, Haggerty then on to Widener University School of Law before taking a leave of absence to sign a professional contract with New England.

The Revolution play in Los Angeles tomorrow, Saturday, April 1 to open their MLS season against the Los Angeles Galaxy in a rematch of MLS Cup 2005. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN2 (11:00 p.m. ET) and WEEI 850 AM, as well as streaming live on www.revolutionsoccer.net.
