Charleston Lowgators News Release

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (March 28) –The Mobile Revelers fought off the North Charleston Lowgators 88-79 at the North Charleston Coliseum on Friday night to win the opening game of their NBDL Semifinals best of three series.

After a nip and tuck first half of play, the Revelers built a 10-point advantage in the middle of the third period 63-53. The Lowgators battled back to tie the contest at 68, but allowed another Reveler run in the fourth period and could not respond.

Revelers coach Sam Vincent said, “We came out and played tough. We made some mistakes, but that is going to happen. I was happy with the way we executed when we needed to make a big play.”

Mobile played without their leading scorer, Cedric Henderson, who was serving a one game suspension. Isaac Fontaine led the way with 24 points and Derek Hood added 15.

The Lowgators struggled from the field shooting 41% from the floor. The Revelers won the battle of the boards 45-33.

“We played with a lot of heart but we did not play good enough basketball. In order to be successful, you have to make the extra pass. We didn’t do that tonight, but I think we can still win the series,” Lowgators head coach, Doug Marty said.

Damone Brown scored 23 points off the bench to lead the Lowgators. Alpha Bangura and Sedric Webber added 15 each.

The two teams will battle in Game 2 at Mobile on Sunday at 5 p.m. EST.
