SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Sacramento Republic FC will host a double-header on Saturday June 18 and its first ever women's match when the Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) plays prior to the already scheduled USL match. The women's match will be between the California Storm and Primero de Mayo. Kickoff is 4 p.m. Former United States Women's National Team midfielder Brandi Chastain and former Brazil Women's National Team midfielder Sissi will play for California Storm.

"Building the beautiful game isn't limited to our first team, Academy or youth programs, it also extends to the amazing talent seen on the women's side of the sport," said Republic FC President and Co-Founder Warren Smith. "It is a great honor to host distinguished players such as Brandi and Sissi, along with the California Storm, at Bonney Field. We hope this is one of many collaborations that provides our fans the opportunity to see world class women's players in action."

The California Storm is one of the founding members of the WPSL, which was founded in 1998. The Storm has been one of the most dominant teams in the WPSL since their inception including winning the inaugural championship. The Storm, like Republic FC, is a very diverse team with players coming from multiple countries. In addition to names like Chastain and Sissi, the Storm's roster has also included including current U.S. Women's National Team forward Alex Morgan.

Chastain is a former U.S. Women's National Team midfielder who made over 190 appearances with the Women's Team from 1988-2004. She won a 1996 Olympic gold medal and scored the winning goal in the 1999 FIFA Women's World Cup. Chastain is best known for her celebration of her match-winning goal in the 1999 Women's World Cup.

Sissi was a member of the Brazil Women's National Team from 1989-2000 and participated in the 1991, 1995 and 1999 FIFA Women's World Cups. Sissi won the Golden Boot (most goals) and Silver Ball (second best player) for her performance in the 1999 World Cup. Sissi was also a member of the Brazil Olympic Team in 1996 and 2000.

Fans with tickets to the Republic FC vs. Rio Grande Valley FC Toros match will also be able to watch the women's match at no additional charge. Members of the California Storm, including Chastain and Sissi, will then be attending Republic FC's match later that night.

In addition, Chastain and Sissi will be holding a Q&A session with fans at Bonney Field from 6:30 - 7 p.m. prior to the Republic FC match. Groups of 25 or more that purchased tickets through Republic FC will also receive an opportunity to take a photo with members of the women's team on the field following the Republic FC match. For information on group tickets call (916) 307-6100 or visit SacRepublicFC.com.

This will be the first time that Republic FC and Bonney Field will host a women's match. The club previously hosted a girls futures match where local up-and-coming girls players played at Bonney Field prior to a Republic FC match.
