Reno's Bobby Simmons Signs with L.A. Clippers

NEW YORK, Feb. 27, 2012 - The Los Angeles Clippers today signed Bobby Simmons of the Reno Bighorns for the 29th GATORADE Call-Up of the 2011-12 NBA Development League season. Simmons joins more than 90 NBA players with NBA D-League experience currently on 2011-12 rosters.
In 21 games, 18 starts, with the Bighorns this season, Simmons (6-8, 220) averaged 13.5 points and 7.6 rebounds in 32.4 minutes. Simmons has scored more than 20 points three times and recorded two double-doubles, including a 19-point, 18-rebound performance on Feb. 18, against the Idaho Stampede.
Selected in the second round (42nd overall) by the Seattle SuperSonics in the 2001 NBA Draft, Simmons has appeared in 438 NBA games, averaging 9.4 points and 4.0 rebounds in 25.3 minutes. He most recently saw NBA action with the San Antonio Spurs during the 2010-11 season.
Simmons is expected to join the Clippers today and be available on Tuesday when the team hosts the Minnesota Timberwolves at the STAPLES Center.
