Reno Splits Doubleheader with Omaha

RENO, Nev.-The Reno Aces split Thursday night's doubleheader against the Omaha Storm Chasers, with a 4-2 victory in Game One and a 13-1 loss in Game Two.

Reno posted three runs in the first inning of Game One, and held the lead the rest of the game. Chris Owings and Kila Ka'aihue each went 2-for-3 at the plate with a run scored. Ka'aihue also added an RBI to his team-leading total.

RHP Chase Anderson dealt a quality start on the way to his second win of the season. He did not give up a hit until the fourth inning, and then gave up two runs with two outs in the inning off an Irving Falu double. Anderson gave up just two earned runs on six hits through 6.0 innings, while striking out six.

Reliever Evan Marshall threw a perfect ninth inning, and was credited with his second save of the season in his first game back from the disabled list.

LHP Justin Marks was charged with his second loss of the season for Omaha. He gave up four earned runs on eight hits through 5.0 innings.

Game Two did not go in Reno's favor, as the Aces gave up 12 runs over the first two innings, 11 of which were pinned on Aces RHP Garrett Mock. Omaha jumped on the board in the first inning with three runs, before posting a nine-run top of the second. Anthony Seratelli was the lone Storm Chasers batter to not collect a hit, and three Omaha batters had a multi-hit game.

Reno's only run in Game Two came in the fifth inning. Tyler Kuhn reached on a throwing error by second baseman Johnny Giavotella, and then scored as Adam Eaton grounded into a double play.

Tony Campana went 2-for-3, and extended his team-leading batting streak to 11 games.

Mock gave up 11 runs-six earned-on eight hits through 1.2 innings, and was charged with his second loss of the season. RHP Bryan Henry and RHP Matt Gorgen combined to give up just two earned runs on five hits through the final 5.1 innings of the game.

Reliever Francisley Bueno earned his first win of the season for Omaha. He gave up one run on two hits through 3.1 innings.

The series wraps up Friday night at Aces Ballpark, as the Aces attempt to earn their first series win of the season. RHP Charles Brewer will get the nod for Reno while the Storm Chasers will counter with LHP Will Smith. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m. PT, and fans can enjoy postgame fireworks for Saint Mary's Fireworks Friday presented by KRNV News 4.
