The El Paso Chihuahuas almost overcame an early four-run deficit but fell to the Reno Aces (Arizona Diamondbacks affiliate) 4-3 Sunday afternoon at Southwest University Park.

The Aces sent eight batters to the plate in the first inning and brought home four runs, two of which were unearned after a Chihuahuas error. Cory Spangenberg's RBI triple in the first inning made it 4-1 and Jabari Blash's two-run, opposite field home run onto the top of the Big Dog House got El Paso within one. The Chihuahuas put runners at second and third in the bottom of the eighth but did not score.

Matt Magill pitched well in the loss, letting in only two earned runs in seven innings of work. It was the second consecutive game that the Chihuahuas starter lasted seven innings, after Walker Lockett did the same thing Saturday. Jamie Romak went 1-for-3 with a double for El Paso, ending his streak of three consecutive games with a home run.
