Reno Bighorns President Achieves Lifetime Goal
Reno, Nev., July 2, 2013 - The NBA Development League is known for providing opportunities for basketball players to get a "call up" to the NBA. The League also provides opportunities for advancement for many other types of basketball personnel. Whether it is a referee, a dance team member or a member of the front office staff, the skills acquired while working in the League allow for advancement in many areas. Reno Bighorns team president Mike Reynolds is returning home to pursue a new business opportunity. After successfully serving the Reno Bighorns as its President, Reynolds will be fulfilling a life time dream of owning his own business as he has purchased a fitness center in his home state of Rhode Island. Reynolds has spent three seasons with the Bighorns, serving as the team's president the last two years.
"Owning my own business has always been a goal of mine and this opportunity allows Nicole and I to bring our newborn back home to grow up with her family," said Reynolds. "I truly appreciate all the support that has been given to me and the Bighorns during my time here. I will be a lifelong Reno Bighorns fan and hope the support for the team continues to grow."
"Mike has everything that an employer would want in an employee: integrity, loyalty, reliability, honesty and leadership," said Reno Bighorns owner, Herb Santos, Jr. "Although I am sad both personally and professionally to see him go, I am very excited about his new opportunity for him and his family. Mike has been instrumental in the success of the Reno Bighorns and he will also always be part of our Reno Bighorns Family."
Reynolds joined the Bighorns front office in September of 2010, as Vice President of Sales and Marketing. He helped guide the team through the transition to the current local ownership. The Bighorns have seen growth in sponsorships and season tickets during Reynolds' tenure. He has also been a part of the Reno community, becoming a Big Brother with the Big Brother Big Sisters of Northern Nevada and participating in local charity walks, most recently walking 60 miles for the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life.
The Bighorns will hold a thank you reception for Reynolds next week at SODO, located at 275 Hill Street, Reno. The date and time will be provided later this week. For more information, call the Bighorns office at 775-853-8220.
