WAPPINGERS FALLS, NY - Hudson Valley was held to only four hits by two Vermont pitchers as the Lake Monsters scored six runs in the ninth to win going away 9-1 Sunday evening at Dutchess Stadium.

Hudson Valley started the scoring in the second as catcher Zac Law led off with his third homerun of the year. It was a solo shot just inside the leftfield foul pole and it gave the Renegades a 1-0 lead.

Renegades starting pitcher Brendan McKay was solid again, going three scoreless innings and allowing only one hit, two walks and three strikeouts. But as he came out, the Lake Monsters struck against Hudson Valley relievers.

In the fourth, Jhonleider Salinas came in for the Renegades and provided back-to-back walks to centerfielder Logan Farrar and rightfielder Anthony Churlin to start the inning. First baseman Hunter Hargrove followed by looping a soft single to right to load the bases with no one out. Salinas balked all runners up a base, including Farrar from third, to tie the game at one. After a pop out, third baseman Will Toffey grounded out to short to score Churlin and the Lake Monsters had a 2-1 lead.

They added an insurance run in the fifth. With one out, second baseman Ryan Gridley lined a single to right. Following a fly out, Gridley stole second and third before Farrar laced a double to center to bring him in and make the score 3-1.

Things stayed that way until the ninth when the Lake Monsters sent 10 men to the plate and put six runs on the board off Renegades reliever Eduard Rosillo to put the game out of reach. The inning started with back-to-back singles by Hargrove and designated hitter Jordan Devencenzi. After Toffey drew a walk to load the bases with no one out, Rosillo got a strikeout for out number one. However, leftfielder Payton Squier followed with a bases-clearing triple to right-centerfield to put the Lake Monsters on top 6-1. After a hit batsman and another walk to reload the bases, Rosillo got a groundout by Farrar. Squier scored from third on the play and the other runners moved up a base. Churlin stood in next and grounded a single to center to score the last two runners and make the score 9-1.

Vermont finished with eight hits in the game including a 2-4 night for Squier who tripled and drove in three runs. Hargrove finished 2-4 with a run scored, Farrar and Churlin each drove two runs apiece as well for the Lake Monsters.

Hudson Valley was held to only four hits with Law ' s homer the only one for extra bases.

Getting the win for Vermont was starting pitcher Ivan Andueza (6-2). The left-hander went six innings and allowed an earned run on three hits. He also walked two and struck out three. He and reliever Brian Howard combined to retire 16 of the final 17 Renegades they faced. The lone exception was a two-out single in the eighth by third baseman Deion Tansel off Howard. Howard allowed no runs and struck out four in three innings of work to notch his first save of the season.

Taking the loss for Hudson Valley was Salinas (2-1), who had two different outings. After giving up three runs in his first 1.2 innings he then retired the last 10 men he faced. Still, he gave up those three earned runs on three hits. He also walked two and struck out four.

The Renegades wrap up their series against the Vermont Lake Monsters tomorrow at 7:05. Right-hander Mikey York (4-1, 0.92 ERA) will start for the Renegades against fellow righty Oscar Tovar (5-2, 3.27 ERA) of the Lake Monsters.
