Beloit Sky Carp News Release

BELOIT, WI - The President and CEO of Minor League Baseball, Pat O'Conner, will visit Beloit on Tuesday, March 14, 2017. The purpose of his visit is to provide an update on the current status of Minor League Baseball, the upcoming negotiations with Major League Baseball relative to the Professional Baseball Agreement (PBA) and how this may affect the future of the Beloit Snappers' franchise in the community.

President O'Conner, Midwest League President Dick Nussbaum along with community leaders will assemble for a noon luncheon hosted by the Board of Directors of the Beloit Professional Baseball Association, Inc at The Beloit Club (2327 S. Riverside Drive) on Tuesday. Midwest League Vice President and previous Burlington Bees President Dave Walker will also be in attendance.

Pat O'Conner has been the President of Minor League Baseball since 2008 and has negotiated three consecutive PBA's; the most recent agreement expires after the 2020 season. Over the past decade, the landscape of Minor League Baseball has changed with new stadiums and significant renovations to meet the growing expectations of Major League Baseball, its players, and fans alike.

The Beloit Snappers will enter their 36th season of affiliated Minor League Baseball in 2017. This meeting and the months that follow will provide an informative perspective for the franchise, which holds one of only 160 Player Development Contracts issued by Major League Baseball.

O'Conner and Nussbaum will be available to the media for 30 minutes following the luncheon from 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The Beloit Snappers are a member of the Midwest League and have been the Single-A affiliate of the Oakland Athletics since 2013. Opening Day for the Snappers 36th season is April 6, 2017 at Pohlman Field as the Snappers host the Cedar Rapids Kernels.
